As the name suggests, light therapy (or phototherapy) is the use of specific wavelengths of light to treat various skin conditions. In Astique, there are two forms of light therapy: Blue Light therapy and Red Light therapy.
Blue Light therapy serves as an alternative treatment for mild to moderate acne problems by targeting the acne-causing bacteria.
Red Light therapy exposes a part of your skin to red low-level wavelengths of light, which is effective in aiding skin repair and reducing the appearance of wrinkles and scars.
During the process of Blue Light therapy, the skin is exposed to light in the 415nm wavelength range, which was clinically proven to be an effective way to kill the Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) bacteria, the root cause of acne, and lowers the chance of a future outbreak in the treatment area.
On the other hand, in Red Light therapy, the 633nm red light penetrates the surface layer of the skin and stimulates a part of your cells called mitochondria, also known as the “power generators” of your cells. This then promotes skin healing by supplying more energy for the skin cells to repair damaged skin tissue.
Each session should take approximately 15 minutes.
There is no pain to our light therapy treatments. The treatments have no downtime for most cases*.
Light therapy treatments are very safe in the hands of trained professionals. Nevertheless, we recommend you to get a proper assessment done with our doctors prior to the treatment.
Light therapy is suitable for most skin types. However, if you have a history of sensitive skin, photoallergy or if you are unsure if there are any other concerns that might affect your suitability for the treatment, do consult our doctors.
Yes! In fact, our clinic highly recommends the Light Therapy treatment to go with other treatments!
